Held at the iconic Sydney Opera House on 14 September, The Advance Global Australian Summit and Awards celebrated international Australians who exhibit remarkable talent, exceptional vision and ambition. The Awards are the only of its kind to recognise the contributions of the one million Australians living abroad, and those who have returned home.

"The Award Winners were inspiring and I think Advance plays a very significant role in highlighting their achievements and talent as well as encouraging other Australians to get out there on the world stage and make a difference." - Kim McKay AO, Director and CEO, Australian Museum

The Advance Global Australian Awards acknowledged achievements across a number of categories and on the night, the winner of the overall 2015 Advance Global Australian Award, Karen Day, Dean of Science, University of Melbourne, was announced. The Advance Global Alumni Award celebrates an outstanding non-Australian alumnus of an Australian university and we were delighted to present the Award to UTS alumnus Nasima Rahmani, Director of the Women's Empowerment Centre at Gawharshad Institute of Higher Education (GIHE), Kabul, Afghanistan. Distinguished Australian pioneers, who themselves have made significant impact on the global stage, selected the winners.

The Advance Global Australian Summit brought together Australia’s game-changers and thought leaders to exchange ideas, and share insights and best practices. The Summit presented a unique opportunity to network with peers and gather intelligence into global trends and solutions that will influence Australia’s growth and its place in the world.
