14 September 2015
Held at the iconic Sydney Opera House on 14 September 2015, The Advance Global Australian Summit and Awards celebrated international Australians who exhibit remarkable talent, exceptional vision and ambition. The Awards are the only of its kind to recognise the contributions of the one million Australians living abroad, and those who have returned home.

The 2015 Advance Global Australian Awards acknowledged achievements across a number of categories and the winner of the overall 2015 Advance Global Australian Award was Karen Day, Dean of Science, University of Melbourne. The Advance Global Alumni Award celebrates an outstanding non-Australian alumnus of an Australian university and we were delighted to present the Award to UTS alumnus Nasima Rahmani, Director of the Women's Empowerment Centre at Gawharshad Institute of Higher Education (GIHE), Kabul, Afghanistan. Greg Norman AO was presented with the Advance Global Impact Award and Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquar, co-Founders and co-CEOs of Atlassian, received the inaugural Advance Global Icon Award. The judging panel consisted of distinguished Australian pioneers who themselves have have significant impact on the global stage.
The Advance Global Australian Summit brought together Australia’s game-changers and thought leaders to exchange ideas, and share insights and best practices. The Summit presented a unique opportunity to network with peers and gather intelligence into global trends and solutions that will influence Australia’s growth and its place in the world.

At Advance, we believe that mentoring is a powerful tool that helps to build the clarity and self-awareness required to be truly innovative. As part of our Awards Program we offer the Awards Mentoring Program, matching Australian university students with an Advance Global Australian Award Winner for 12 months of one-on-one mentoring. Meet the 2015 mentees, many of whom were able to join us for the Summit and Awards.
